Программа умеет эмулировать VT100, VT102, VT220, ANSI, SCO ANSI и Linux консоль с поддержкой цвета и позволяет проводить неограниченное количество сессий c возможностью присвоения им имен. Поддерживается работа через HTTP прокси и файрволы, ZModem и XModem, использование скриптов (VBScript и JScript), ведение лог-файлов, автоматические логины и NTLM аутентификация для соединения с Microsoft Telnet Server. Для подключения к серверу необходимо лишь указать его имя. Возможно сохранение сессий и использование в дальнейшем созданных настроек, а также автоматическая авторизация без использования сценариев.

SecureCRT 6.1 extends your ability to customize your workflow and automate routine tasks with new session management and scripting capabilities. Scripting enhancements include support for accessing session options, accessing the clipboard, and sending special keys. Additional logon options allow you to save usernames and passwords with keyboard-interactive authentication and enter Secure Shell logon credentials in the terminal window making it easier to script logons.

SecureCRT and SecureFX can share passwords and passphrases while either application or the Activator utility is running and both SecureCRT and SecureFX sessions are displayed on the Activator menu. Launch either application from a toolbar button and specify a session to connect to. A combined installer is available that installs both clients and their DLLs into the same folder, making it easy to install SecureCRT and SecureFX and keep them in sync.
• Configuration: Extensive session and keyboard customization including a button bar which allows you to map buttons to configuration commands or actions, such as sending strings, running scripts, menu functions, and protocol commands. Different button bars can be created for specific sessions or operations.
• Powerful printing: Printing support, including pass-through printing.
• Scripting support: Scripting language support for VBScript, JScript, and PerlScript. A script recorder automatically creates a VBScript based on keystrokes, including function keys.

Changes:
- SSH2: The default cipher list has been modified to prefer the AES ciphers in CTR mode. This change was made to address a potential vulnerability

Bug fixes:
- SecureCRT could crash if the "Auto reconnect" option was set and the username was changed when attempting to connect to a server that does not allow the username to change.
- If the INI-file-only global option "Disable Close" was set and SecureCRT was closed using the red "X", SecureCRT hung
- If a script was specified on the command line and the "Show connect dialog on startup" option was set, the Connect dialog was displayed.
- If there was an error during script recording and the error message was longer than 64K, the message could not be displayed
