Reaper - многофункциональный аудио-редактор. Данная программа позволяет редактировать и записывать музыкальные треки, позволяет редактировать MP3, OGG и MIDI файлы. Средствами утилиты предусмотрена возможность записи звука с микрофона в WAV формат. REAPER поддерживает неограниченное количество звуковых слоев, которые могут быть добавлены к создаваемому или редактируемому файлу. В параметрах трека можно выбрать частоту регенерации, количество каналов (моно или стерео) и формат выходного файла. Имеется функция, позволяющая перейти к указанному интервалу времени музыкального файла. Утилита обладает удобным расположением инструментов, что, несомненно, сказывается на продуктивности её работы.

REAPER is a powerful but sensible Windows application that lets you record, arrange, edit, and render multi-track waveform audio. It provides an extensive set of features, but is a very small and lightweight application (the installer is less than 1 megabyte, and includes many effects and a sample project).
REAPER supports ASIO, Kernel Streaming, WaveOut, and DirectSound for playback and recording. It reads WAV, OGG, and MP3 files, and records WAV files. You can arrange any number of items in any number of tracks and use audio processing plug-ins (DirectX and Jesusonic). REAPER also supports volume, pan controls and envelopes per track, multi-layer undo/redo, and user creatable color themes.

Программа для записи аудио с самых разных источников, снабженная некоторыми функциями аудио-редактирования. Функции редактирования включают разрезку/склейку аудио-дорожек, контроль уровня записи для каждого произведения, различные эффекты – затухание, микширование, «плавные» переходы. Интерфейс программы немного перегружен настройками (большое их количество видно по умолчанию в главном окне), но сделано это из лучших побуждений – не заставлять пользователя делать но 3-4 щелчка мышью для получения доступа к нужной команде.
Это действительно полноценная рабочая студия. Из основных функций отмечу - поддержка неограниченного числа миди и аудиотреков (зависит от производительности системы), поддержка ASIO-драйверов, поддержка Direct-X и VST-плагинов и инструментов, поддержка миди-контроллеров, поддержка рендеринга с функцией рэсемплинга (встроенные алгоритмы), поддержка Rewire для синхронизации с Reason и другими программами. Из нестандартных функций хочу отметить ReaMote - инструмент для синхронизации с другими Reaper-ами по локальной сети. Также есть интересная функция визуализации (можно использовать плагины Winamp).
